This helps to prevent puddles from forming in the school yard and pupils getting wet or bringing water into the building. The canopy is 100% UV resistant, waterproof and fire retardant to British Standards BS7157, BS7837 and European M2 classification.
Freestanding Option: The structures can be installed as a freestanding canopy on a supported goal post frame, with an additional structure to the opposite side.

Weather Protection & Durability
A school fixed roof canopy with polycarbonate or glass offers excellent protection from the elements, giving children and staff from rain, snow, and harsh sunlight. Polycarbonate canopies are particularly effective at blocking UV rays while allowing natural light to filter through, reducing glare and overheating. Glass canopies, on the other hand, provide a sleek, modern look while offering strong protection from the weather. Both materials are highly durable, with polycarbonate being impact-resistant and glass being designed for strength and safety. -
Expanded Learning & Social Spaces
Installing a ShadeZone canopy creates additional covered outdoor areas, perfect for outdoor classrooms, eating spaces, or just play. This encourages outdoor learning and play, giving children and students a fresh-air environment while remaining protected. Schools can use these spaces for group activities, assemblies, or as a sheltered waiting area for parents and students. -
Energy Efficiency & Natural Lighting
Both polycarbonate and glass canopies allow natural light to pass through, reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day. This can lead to energy savings and create a brighter, more inviting atmosphere for students and staff. The thermal insulation properties of polycarbonate also help regulate temperature, preventing excessive heat build up under the canopy. -
Aesthetic & Branding Enhancement
A well-designed canopy enhances the overall appearance of the school, adding a modern and professional touch. Glass canopies provide a sleek and contemporary look, while polycarbonate canopies are available in various colours and finishes to match the school’s colours -
Protection of Outdoor Facilities
A canopy helps preserve outdoor equipment and furniture, preventing wear and tear caused by exposure to rain, sun, or snow. This extends the lifespan of playgrounds, seating areas, and other outdoor structures, reducing maintenance costs over time. -
Encouraging Outdoor Activities
With a sheltered outdoor space, students and staff can comfortably engage in activities such as studying, playing, or socialising in all weather conditions. This encourages a more dynamic and flexible learning environment, making better use of available outdoor spaces throughout the year.
